My Friend Jake and I often work on projects together, but he does
some amazing work of his own, and since he is way off the grid,
I am kind of an agent or local contact for him. Here are some pictures
from a recent visit to his place at Devil's Creek, between Ruby
and Galena on the lower Yukon River in western Alaska.
We got to his place recently and discovered that the parking
lot was already pretty full. Here's his shop, outside
and inside
-- that's him testing some new holdfasts. He had a cute little paper
towel holder, and a candle
chandelier
that is incredible to look at. It is one of those things that sort
of draw your attention inside to follow all of the curves
and connections.
Since Jake's shop is completely non-electric, all of his work is traditional
black smithing, with a hand cranked blower, a coal fire and a hand
hammer.
And here's a paper towel holder that Jake recently finished.
